Swansea gets the Sculptra treatment!

I have just left Defy-Time in Swansea and what a lovely evening it was! It was nice to be home again in Wales, chatting to the bubbly Welsh women about my brand new look. They really loved hearing about the treatment and seeing the before and after pictures highlighted the improvement Sculptra has made to my face. Many of them couldn’t wait to book in for an appointment with Dr Jones and I think a few of them were giving themselves a bit of a Christmas treat, and why not I say!

It has been a busy day though! I was chatting with Leighton Jones on Swansea Sound earlier today about my Sculptra treatment and then some of the local press come along to the event to get a few snaps of me and my new look!

Anna takes to the road!

Well I have been keeping myself very busy over the past month, helping to spread the word about Sculptra to clinics around the UK! From Richmond to Newcastle, Southampton to Birmingham, I have been travelling across the country to talk to the lovely local residents about my Sculptra journey over the last few months and revealing my fantastic younger and fuller looking face.

I started the tour at Bodyvie Medi-Clinic in Richmond and met an amazing 62 year old man who actually looked like he was in his thirties, the wonders of Sculptra! I was treated to some delicious cupcakes and a few glasses of bubbly at the end of the night, while chatting away to some of the locals.

A week later I was on a flight to Newscastle and visited a lovely clinic called Absolute Image. I met a woman, Sue Wealleans who had Sculptra because she lost lots of weight and felt her face had started to look gaunt, but now she looked fantastic and was pleased she now had the face to match her youthful slimmer body!

My next stop was Birmingham, a very chic and stylish clinic called Tinkable. I know the city quite well as I spent a lot of time filming House Invaders there, so it was nice to be back. The women were all really impressed by the 3D images I had taken, where they could compare how much my facial volume has increased since my first Sculptra treatment.

The following Monday I was down to the coast visiting Xavier G Medi-Clinic in Southampton. The event was held at a local bar at the Docklands and attracted about 70 enthusiastic men and women keen to hear more about my treatment. There was a great atmosphere on the evening and we even had a few of the local papers there taking pictures.

At all events, everyone seemed to be fascinated by my results and I was really happy to be able to reveal my secrets to other women who just wanted to turn back the clock a few years. Many of them were just like me, feeling like they looked a bit tired and worn out, but not wanting a dramatic change. They just want a fuller face and healthier glow, which is what I have now and it has done wonders for my confidence!

I am on the road again next month but staying local and telling the Welsh women about how they can sculpt a younger looking face just like me!

Three is the magic number!

I have just left Angelica for the last time, after my third and final Sculptra treatment. I can’t believe I have now finished, I just don’t know where the time has gone. It only feels like yesterday since I was sitting nervously in the waiting room waiting for Angelica to call me in for my first consultation. Looking back I don’t know what I was fussing about! I actually feel a bit sad that I won’t be going back, as I know how good I feel every time I leave the clinic.

This time I couldn’t wait to get into to see Angelica, I really wanted to know how she thought my skin was improving. It’s hard to see the difference myself as you get used to what you see in the mirror everyday. Although the major thing I have noticed is that now I feel confident to go out in public without any make up on, something I haven’t done since my twenties!

I wasn’t nervous this time at all, just knowing that I was another step closer to getting the final results like I saw briefly when I left Angelica for the first time. Angelica was really impressed with how my skin was looking and there was definitely a great improvement in facial volume since my first visit. She also said that I will have to wait another 6-8 weeks after my final treatment before my results will be at their peak!

I have been getting more and more comments from friends and family I haven’t seen in a while about how fantastic I am looking, telling me it must be my new outdoor lifestyle! What’s more is that people are not asking me if I have anything ‘done’, as I was quite concerned that it might change the way I looked dramatically! Sculptra has done exactly what I wanted it to, turn back the clock a few years and has given me back my healthy glow!

I love my friends!

Now I don’t know if it’s because they know I’m having treatment but all my friends keep saying I look really well! The results of Sculptra are so subtle that when you look at yourself everyday you can’t see a major difference but the reactions from other people have been really encouraging. Even one of the girls from the zoo who didn’t know I was having Sculptra commented!

Bring on the next treatment I say!

Peanut Head

So I’ve had my second treatment. Angelica anaylsed my face and decided to give me a few more injections in my temple to avoid the ‘peanut head’ look. Sounds strange but think of the shape of peanut in its shell and you’ll get the picture. As we age our faces can get more concave around the temples which is apparently very ageing.

It is a little more painful to have the injections in the temple area but Angelica works very quickly and expertly to ensure it’s over in flash and lets face it no-one wants to be peanut head!!

Angelica is great and I feel completely at ease in her hands. I felt a bit more relaxed his time so I can actually remember a bit more of what she said during my treatment. Apparently I have good cheekbones so she is going to use Sculptra to enhance my natural beauty rather than make me look different – reassuring words as I’m still a little wary of the whole pillow face look but I feel totally confident that Angelica will make me look fab!

I got some brownie points too for using sun cream as part of my daily routine now so I leave feeling quite smug and uplifted!

My second Sculptra treatment!

So 6 weeks has whizzed by and it’s time for my second Sculptra treatment in a couple of days! I’m really excited as I loved the instant volume boost I had for a few days after the first treatment and I want it back!

I know the treatment takes a while for the final results (another 12 weeks at least) but I’m starting to get really quite excited about what I’ll look like at the end. I think it’ll be worth the wait too as I love the fact that it’s my own collagen growing rather than simply filling me up with something!

Nerves are ok this time. I’m not a needle lover but I know what to expect this time so it’s not so bad, still quite looking forward to it being over though

One down two to go!

So I’ve had my first treatment and I my initial reaction was “is that it!”. I think I had worked myself up into such a frenzy that when I actually had treatment I was amazed how quickly it was over!

There’s no getting away from the fact that it’s not the most pleasant experience but the pain is momentary and helped considerably by the lashings of anaesthetic cream I had smeared across my face.

I was a little concerned about bruising after the treatment as I was presenting Bafta at the weekend but my face looked fine after treatment.

I did get a strong telling off from Angelica for not using a sun screen, especially as I spend a lot of time outside around the wildlife park, so I’m off to buy myself some SPF and am looking forward to my next treatment.

Appointment is booked!

Well, I’ve booked my appointment with top surgeon Angelica Kavouni at her Harley Street clinic for my first Sculptra treatment. It’s in a couple of weeks and it’s just hit me that I’m actually quite nervous! The whole needle thing is worrying me slightly, although having been through child birth, I think I have quite a high pain threshold so how bad can it be!

Nerves aside, I’m excited to see the results, although I won’t see any changes overnight. I’ve done a lot of reading up on it and it’s a technique used in medical circles for years so is tried and tested rather than some new fad. It stimulates natural collagen production, so it takes a while to see the results and you have to build up the treatment over a number of visits.

I am hoping to see visible results overall on my face, a fresher, well-rested face, more youthful-looking again – with a bit of luck!

I have always spent what I would consider a generous but not crazy amount on skin cleanser and moisturiser and I think I have been quite good over the years. I think I probably looked my best from my 20s to my mid-30s. Where I have been guilty is the blatant love of the sun, even though we don’t get much!

This is the first cosmetic procedure I have had although I always used to imagine I would have breast implants but luckily, through time, have realised that I have enough. Would just like to make them look 20 years younger!

I never used to worry about ageing

I never used to worry about ageing, but over the last year or so I have caught the occasional reflection of myself looking tired with funny jowls at the top of my jaw and either side of my mouth. I’m not entirely sure how I even got to 45, I’m sure I was only 20 last week. I have decided it is time to give myself a bit a makeover for a change, and it’s going to take a little more than some mdf and a lick of paint!

Working in TV, I knew a few people who have had a little help to hold mother nature back, and some of them look really great and surprisingly natural. I have been thinking about having some sort of procedure for some time, and the first thing decision you face is the knife or the needle? Personally for me, the knife seems too extreme at this stage, as I am quite happy with the way I look, I just feel I need a bit of freshening and revitalising! So decision made, the needle is it, but which one? There are so many different things you can have done that it is quite difficult to know which way to jump.

I don’t want anything like Botox, as although I have seen some fantastic results, I’m concerned about the sort of thing they put into your face. I also want a more natural look that lasts longer. And so, having done a bit of research, I have decided to try something called Sculptra, an injectable treatment that stimulates the body to produce collagen to put back the volume time has lost and smooth away those annoying little lines that have cropped up.

This treatment is something that appeals because it just seems like it is more natural. It is prompting my body to do something itself rather than physically filling, cutting or freezing anything. I’m not expecting people to say “hey you look 25”, I just want my friends and family say I look well, healthy and fresh.

My husband Colin is not convinced. He’s never understood why women get “things done”. Of course, us women know that for the majority of us, it takes a bit more than nature delivers to look naturally attractive. Female and gay friends are all fascinated to see the results and are all looking for the same youthful looks.
